Glubran 2 Synthetic Surgical Glue - Fibrin Glue for Neurosurgery

Glubran 2 is used as a sealant of the dura (cranial or spinal) to reinforce the suture line and prevent CSF fistulas – in theatre, this is usually just called dural sealant, fibrin glue or surgical glue rather than by brand name.

Manufactured by GEM S.r.l. in Italy and supplied in Pakistan by National Enterprises, it uses the same NBCA-MS co-monomer technology as the rest of the Glubran 2 range, polymerizing into a thin, flexible, impermeable film within seconds of contact with tissue.

Description

Glubran 2 (0.5 ML) is a Class III synthetic surgical tissue glue manufactured by GEM S.r.l. in Italy. It utilizes the same advanced NBCA-MS co-monomer technology as the 1 ML version, designed to provide hemostasis, tissue sealing, and liquid embolization. The 0.5 ML volume is highly cost-effective and perfectly sized for smaller surgical interventions, laparoscopic procedures, pediatric surgeries, or localized tissue sealing. Upon contact with live tissue, it polymerizes into a thin, flexible, and impermeable film within seconds. The cured film exhibits a low polymerization temperature of 45°C, ensuring patient comfort and safety. It acts as a strong barrier against surgical site infections while naturally undergoing gradual hydrolytic resorption.

Key Features & Clinical Benefits

  • Formulated with GEM’s proprietary NBCA-MS co-monomer technology.
  • 0.5 ML volume, ideal for localized applications and pediatric surgeries.
  • Polymerizes in seconds to create a flexible, high-tensile sealant film.
  • Low-exothermic reaction (45°C) protects delicate surrounding tissues.
  • Cured film acts as a bacteriostatic and antiseptic barrier.
  • Fully bioabsorbable via natural hydrolytic processes.
