Description
Stypcel™ is a premium absorbable hemostatic gauze manufactured by Medprin. It is composed of oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC), a plant-derived material that is highly biocompatible. Stypcel is specifically indicated to assist in the control of capillary, venous, and small arterial bleeding when conventional hemostatic methods (such as suturing or ligation) are impractical or ineffective. Upon application to the bleeding site, the non-woven fabric increases the contact surface area and creates a localized acidic environment. This acidic pH promotes rapid vasoconstriction, accelerates platelet activation, and leads to immediate clot formation. Furthermore, the low pH exhibits strong bacteriostatic properties against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens. Stypcel is completely absorbed by the body’s tissues within 7 to 14 days, leaving no residue and inducing minimal tissue reaction.
